Crash At the Allen County and Whitley County Line

Allen County Sheriff's Department responded to a crash involving a Dodge Van and Semi-truck near U.S. 33 and County Road 300 North. One driver hospitalized in stable condition.
On January 17, 2026, at approximately 7:21 p.m., officers with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department responded to the area of I-69 northbound near the 308-mile marker for a report of a red pickup truck in a ditch.
Upon arrival, officers and medics located a red pickup truck on the east side of I-69 northbound, just north of the 308-mile marker. An elderly male driver was found inside the vehicle near a group of trees. Medics transported the driver to Parkview Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling northbound on I-69 when witnesses reported it slowly veered off the east side of the roadway. Investigators said it then traveled through a ditch, a fence, and then struck a tree.
The incident remains under investigation by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.
