Vehicle vs Pedestrian, Fatal Crash on Tonkel Road

On March 16, 2024, at approximately 8:40 P.M., officers with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department responded to the area of Tonkel Road, north of Cedar Springs Blvd., regarding a vehicle versus pedestrian crash.

Upon arrival, officers and medics located one SUV that was involved, along with one pedestrian. A preliminary investigation indicated that the SUV was southbound on Tonkel Road, north of Cedar Springs Blvd, when the pedestrian entered the roadway, in an apparent attempt to cross the road. The SUV struck the pedestrian.

The pedestrian, an adult male, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the SUV, an adult female, was uninjured.

This incident remains under investigation.
