On May 22, 2026, at approximately 10:08 p.m., officers with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana State Police responded to the 100 block of Woodlake Run in the Woodlake Estates Mobile Home Park on a report of a shooting inside a residence.
Upon arrival, officers detained an adult male at the scene. Officers then located an adult female inside the residence suffering from gunshot wounds. Medics pronounced the female deceased at the scene.
Following an interview with investigators, the male was transported to the Allen County Jail on a preliminary charge of Murder.
UPDATE — May 23, 2026: The individual previously reported as being preliminarily charged with Murder has been identified as James Richard Chelf II, age 79, of Yoder, Indiana.
