At approximately 4:07 p.m. today, Chavez Michael Gustin was arrested in connection with the burglary and homicide that occurred in the 700 block of Hathaway Road, on Saturday July 26th.
Gustin had been identified and questioned earlier in the week as part of the ongoing investigation, but at that time, insufficient evidence prevented charges from being filed. Since then, detectives with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department, working in collaboration with the Fort Wayne Police Department, Indiana State Police, and the Allen County High Tech Crime Unit, have devoted extensive resources to gathering and analyzing evidence, ultimately leading to today’s arrest.

At approximately 10:06 a.m., officers with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the area of State Road 37 and Allen Road in response to a reported vehicle crash with injuries. Upon arrival, officers located a blue passenger car and a white semi-truck with trailer that had been involved in a collision.
