Callers indicated that several juveniles appeared to be fighting over a firearm, and that one juvenile had been shot in the leg. Deputies responded promptly and located a male juvenile suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. He was transported to a local hospital, where he is currently listed in stable condition.

A firearm was recovered and secured at the scene. Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators also responded to assist with the investigation.

Preliminary findings suggest that two male juveniles attempted to sell vape pen cartridges to two other male juveniles when a disagreement occurred. During the altercation, a firearm was displayed, leading to a physical struggle between two of the individuals. During the struggle, the firearm discharged, striking one juvenile in the leg. The two juveniles who were allegedly attempting to purchase the vape cartridges fled the scene following the incident.

The firearm involved in the shooting was found to have been previously reported stolen. A follow-up investigation conducted shortly after the incident led to the recovery of two additional firearms, one of which was also reported stolen.

This incident remains under active investigation. All information is preliminary and subject to change as the investigation continues.
