One Fatality and Two Seriously Injured in Three-Vehicle Crash on W. Washington Center Road at O Day Road

On February 27th, 2026, at approximately 4:04 p.m., officers with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department responded to the area of W. Washington Center Road and O Day Road regarding a reported personal injury crash. Dispatch advised that the crash involved a passenger car, a concrete pump truck, and a pickup truck.

Upon arrival, officers and medics located a concrete pump truck and a red pickup truck on the south side of W. Washington Center Road, and a silver passenger car on the north side of W. Washington Center Road, just west of O Day Road.

While triaging the scene, first responders determined the driver of the concrete pump truck was uninjured. The elderly driver and passenger of the silver passenger car were initially determined to have life-threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Medics transported the two occupants of the passenger car to Parkview Regional Medical Center. At the hospital, the male driver of the passenger car was later upgraded to stable condition. The female passenger remains in life-threatening condition and is undergoing surgery.

Preliminary investigation indicates the concrete pump truck was traveling westbound on W. Washington Center Road. Witnesses reported the passenger car was traveling southbound on O Day Road and stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of W. Washington Center Road, but then proceeded into the intersection. The pickup truck was traveling eastbound on W. Washington Center Road, approaching the intersection.

The driver of the concrete pump truck appeared to brake suddenly and swerve left in an attempt to avoid the passenger car, but struck the passenger car on the driver’s side and then collided head-on with the pickup truck.

The crash remains under investigation by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.
