On April 1, 2026, at approximately 9:11 p.m., officers with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department responded to the area of Dawkins Rd. and S. Ryan Rd. regarding a reported personal injury crash. Dispatch advised that the crash involved two passenger vehicles and that one individual was pinned inside a vehicle.
Upon arrival, officers and medics located a green Dodge passenger vehicle and a gray Saturn passenger vehicle at the intersection of Dawkins Rd. and S. Ryan Rd.
First responders assessed the scene and determined that both vehicles had two occupants. Three of the occupants were able to exit their vehicles and began receiving medical attention. The driver of the Saturn, however, was pinned inside the vehicle.
The three occupants who were not pinned were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Saturn was extricated from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The preliminary investigation indicates the green Dodge was traveling southbound on S. Ryan Rd. and disregarded a stop sign, striking the gray Saturn that was traveling eastbound on Dawkins Rd. After the initial impact, the Saturn struck a utility pole.
The crash remains under investigation by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.
