At approximately 10:06 a.m., officers with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the area of State Road 37 and Allen Road in response to a reported vehicle crash with injuries.
Upon arrival, officers located a blue passenger car and a white semi-truck with trailer that had been involved in a collision.
Preliminary information indicates that both vehicles were traveling southwest on SR 37 when the semi began to slow for traffic. For unknown reasons, the passenger car left the north side of the roadway, re-entered the road, and struck the rear of the semi’s trailer.
The elderly female driver of the passenger car was transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
This incident remains under investigation by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.

At approximately 4:07 p.m. today, Chavez Michael Gustin was arrested in connection with the burglary and homicide that occurred in the 700 block of Hathaway Road, on Saturday July 26th.
