Captain Scott Uetrecht started his career with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department in 1994 as a part time Civilian Confinement Officer
at the Allen County Work Release. In 1995, after graduating Vincennes University, he became a full time Civilian Confinement Officer at the Allen County Jail.
In February of 1998 Captain Scott Uetrecht was sworn in as a Police Officer with the Sheriff’s Department. As a Police Officer in the jail he worked as a Transport Officer, was a member of the Sheriff’s Department Color Guard and was appointed to the Allen County SWAT Team. In 2002 he was promoted to Corporal in the Criminal Investigation Division where he stayed for over a year before transferring to the patrol division. In the Patrol Division, Captain Scott Uetrecht worked for 18 years and was a Field Training Officer (FTO) as well as a Shift Supervisor with the rank of Corporal.
Captain Scott Uetrecht served 22 years on the Allen County SWAT Team and was a SWAT Team Leader and later SWAT Team Commander for over 14 years. During his time as SWAT Team Leader and Team Commander he successfully led the SWAT Team in over 400 operations. While on the SWAT Team he was a Certified Explosive Handler and Advanced Explosive Breacher. He also attended the FBI Basic SWAT School, DEA Clandestine Lab School and NIMS Incident Command School along with earning numerous other certifications.
Captain Scott Uetrecht has been an Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Certified Instructor since 2005 and currently holds certification in Advanced Emergency Vehicle Operation.
In April of 2021 he was promoted to his current position as Captain of Operations where he oversees the Allen County Sheriff’s Department’s Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division and the Vice and Narcotics Division. Captain Scott Uetrecht has dedicated himself to the Citizens of Allen County for the past 23 years.
