After speaking with Allen County Detectives, the driver identified as Roger Caley, M/W/64, of New Haven was arrested for two counts of leaving the scene of a crash. The Victim is still listed in critical condition. The crash remains under investigation.

Hit and Run Driver strikes Highway Subcontractor and Flees

Details:

The Allen County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a Hit and Run crash that occurred on Interstate 469 at the 12.6 mile marker, just East of US-27.  At approximately 11:27 a.m., on Monday, May 02, 2016, a state highway subcontractor was struck while working in the eastbound lane of I-469.  Witnesses advised that a red Ford pickup truck was eastbound when it struck the worker and continued driving.  All lanes of I-469 were shut down between Marion Center and US 27.  Officers located a red Ford pickup truck in New Haven matching the description with front end damage consistent with the crash.  The driver of the truck was taken in for questioning. The victim was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. The crash remains under investigation by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department and the Allen County Prosecutors Office.
