Sheriff David J. Gladieux Opens New Dental Office Inside of the Allen County Jail.

After considering the cost, time, and resources involved in evaluating and transporting inmates to an offsite dental office for treatment, Sheriff David J. Gladieux has converted an unused office at the Allen County Jail into a new fully equipped Dental Examination Room.   The new dental room has everything that a dentist needs to treat most dental issues within the facility. Sheriff Gladieux has been working with Dr. Michael Luarde, DDS and developed a plan where the inmates can receive all of their required dental care within the confinement facility.  Not only will the inmates receive quality dental care while saving the taxpayers money, but the time between initial assessment and treatment will be much shorter.  The nursing staff at the jail evaluates and treats approximately 1400 complaints a year from inmates with dental issues.  The new equipment will prevent the scheduling, transportation, and staffing issues related to the offsite office visits.  All of these benefits come at no added cost to the taxpayers.
