On February 27, 2023, at 11:59 P.M., officers with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department responded to a shooting in the 13700 block of Ledgestone Place.

Upon arrival, officers and medics located one adult male with critical injuries. The male was transported to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition.

A preliminary investigation indicated that the suspect and victim were at a residence attending a small gathering before the shooting occurred. The suspect fled before police arrived.

The suspect was located nearly three hours later, south of Allen County. The suspect is in police custody.

FEBRUARY 28, 2023, 5:57 P.M.UPDATED INFORMATION BELOW:

The suspect in this investigation is now being held at Allen County Lockup on a parole violation. His name is Jerico Simmons. He was located in Grant County just before 3:00 A.M. this morning.  

This incident remains under investigation.
