One Person Dead, Two Injured After Single Vehicle Crash

At approximately 6:23 a.m., Sunday, October 7, 2018, officers with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department responded to SR1 & Popp Road for a reported traffic crash. When officers arrived, they found that a white passenger car was northbound on SR1 just north of Popp Road when it crossed the center line and left the roadway on the west side, striking a concrete culvert. The male driver received minor injuries and was able to run to a residence to report the crash to the home owner, who called dispatch. A female passenger in the back seat was ejected and transported to a local hospital in serious condition. A female passenger in the front seat was pronounced deceased at the scene. The crash remains under investigation by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department. All three occupants of the vehicle appeared to be juveniles. The identity of the deceased will be released by the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
