On March 9, 2020, at approximately 12:45 P.M., the Allen County Sheriff’s Department responded to the 17000 block of Marion Center Road reference a single vehicle crash. Witnesses reported a 4-door sedan traveling at a high rate of speed, that left the roadway and struck a utility pole.

Officers arrived on scene and reported the vehicle being fully engulfed in flames. Witnesses and officers were unable to free the driver from the vehicle. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle.

Officers discovered that the vehicle had been traveling southbound on Marion Center Road, north of Winchester Road, when it failed to navigate a curve, leaving the roadway and striking a utility pole.

The crash remains under investigation.
