On Thursday April 13, 2023, at approximately 2:52 P.M., officers with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department responded to U.S. 27 South, just south of Flatrock Road, on reports of a personal injury crash.

Officers and medics arrived and located one patient in critical condition. An initial investigation showed that a moped was southbound on U.S. 27 South, south of Flatrock Road, when it was rear-ended by a van, that was also southbound.

The adult female driver of the moped was trapped between the moped and the van. She was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The driver of the van was not injured.
