On July 25, 2018, at approximately 10:00 P.M., Allen County Sheriff’s Department Officers responded to the 13800 block of Tonkel Road, after receiving reports of a single vehicle crash with a vehicle in a pond. Officers arrived on scene to find a black passenger car partially submerged in a private pond. Officers reports indicate that they observed the lone male occupant of the vehicle unconscious, in the driver’s seat, as the vehicle began to take on more water and become completely submerged.

Several Officers stripped off their gear and went into the water, attempting to extricate the driver. A short time later, Officers were able to cut the driver’s seatbelt, pull him out of the open driver’s side window and pull him to the shore.

The driver was transported to a local hospital in serious condition.

This incident is still under investigation by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.
