On Monday March 13, 2023, at approximately 7:08 A.M., officers with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department responded to the area of U.S. Highway 27 South at Flatrock Road, reference a personal injury crash.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a two-vehicle crash in the intersection. A preliminary investigation indicated that a pickup truck was crossing U.S. 27 from westbound Flatrock Road and drove into the path of a northbound passenger car.

The adult male driver of the pickup truck was transported to a local hospital in serious condition. He was later downgraded to critical condition. The driver was pronounced deceased late on March 13, 2023.

The driver of the passenger car was not injured. The drivers were the only occupants of the vehicles.

This incident remains under investigation.
