Morning Crash Leaves One Person in Serious Condition

Details:

At approximately 8:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 10, 2018, the Allen County Sheriff’s Department was notified that a car had crashed into a tree in the 300 block of Union Chapel Road, west of Coldwater Road.  Investigating officers determined that a blue Kia Optima was westbound on Union Chapel road when for an unknown reason; the male driver accelerated and struck the rear of a Nissan Murano that was also westbound on Union Chapel Road.  The Kia Optima then left the south side of Union Chapel and struck several trees before coming to rest next to larger tree trapping the driver.  An infant in the vehicle was not injured.  The male driver was taken to a local hospital in serious condition after being freed from the vehicle. The Nissan Murano received minor damage and the driver was not injured.  The crash remains under investigation by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.
