Four Children Deceased After Morning Fire in Dupont Estates Mobile Home Park

At approximately 8:26 a.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2022, the Allen County Sheriff’s Department was notified of a mobile home fire at 4705 Grassy Lane, in the Dupont Estates Mobile Home Park.  Upon arrival, the residence was fully engulfed by flames.  The Fort Wayne Fire Department arrived 5 minutes after being dispatched and immediately started extinguishing the fire. Responding Allen County Sheriff’s Department Officers determined that 4 adults were able to escape the fire and transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.  It was determined that 4 children were still trapped in the home.  After getting the fire under control enough to make entry into the home, emergency responders located the 4 children which had all perished in the fire.  The Allen County Coroner declared the children deceased at 9:47 a.m.  The children’s identities, along with the cause and manner of death will be release by the Coroner’s Office.  The fire remains under investigation by the Allen County F.A.S.T. Team, Indiana State Fire Marshal, and the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.
