FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Along with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, the Allen County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a possible drowning in Northwest Allen County. At approximately 10:54 A.M on Friday, July 1, 2016, Officers from the Allen County Sheriff’s Department responded to the 12500 block of Carroll Creek Run after witnesses reported a possible drowning. One witness reported that his dog began barking so he looked outside and noticed what he thought was a dog in the pond behind his residence. He went outside to try and help the dog and realized it was a young boy trying to stay above water. The witness entered the pond and got to the boy when he realized that a female was unresponsive in the water near the boy. The witness was able to get the young boy and the female to shore. EMS treated and released the boy at the scene, he is said to be in good condition. The female was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The female is an adult and is a relative of the young boy.
Other emergency crews at the scene were: Fort Wayne Police Department, Fort Wayne Fire Department, Huntertown Fire/EMS and TRAA.
