Allen County Sheriff’s Department Adds 90 New Automated External Defibrillators to the Force
Details
In December 2020 Sheriff David Gladieux saw the need to purchase new AED’s for the Allen County Sheriff’s Department. After consulting with Bolt For The Heart Deputy Chief Troy Hershberger found that the department could purchase 80 units with 10 additional units donated by Bolt For The Heart. With this investment the Allen County Sheriff’s Department could not only equip every police car with a unit, but also insure that every area of the Allen County Jail would have an AED available. Prior to this purchase the department had 27 total AED’s. 12 at the jail, 4 in the courthouse, and 11 in patrol cars. With this purchase and donation we will have 29 in the jail, 4 in the courthouse, and 60 in the patrol cars. The AED’s were purchased with $119,600.00 from the Sheriff’s Commissary account and no tax payer money was used. The department took delivery of 17 units on Friday February 19th 2021 and used one to save an inmate’s life the following Monday, February 22nd 2021. We will take delivery of the remaining 73 units at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 1st at the Sheriff’s training facility located at 5080 Adams Center Road. The media is welcome to attend the AED presentation.
