Allen County Officer Hegbli and his K-9 Partner Chaos Assist in Arrest of Uncooperative Suspect
Details:
On Sunday, April 5th, at approximately 7:55 a.m., Allen County Police Officers responded to the 8600 block of Illinois Rd to assist ISP with a Felony Traffic Stop following a high-speed vehicle pursuit. After all non-lethal attempts to obtain compliance from the subject proved unsuccessful, officer Hegbli summoned his K-9 partner for the safety of all officers involved. The suspect exited his vehicle, ignoring all officer commands, and attempted to flee on foot. After numerous warnings from officer Hegbli that he was going to release his K-9 partner, the suspect continued to flee. Officer Hegbli deployed his K-9 Chaos who caught and bit the suspect holding onto him and slowing him down, at which time officer Hegbli tackled the suspect holding him until other officers could assist with securing him in handcuffs. The suspect was transported to a local hospital where he was evaluated for injuries he sustained, which included bites he received from K-9 Chaos. No officers were injured in the incident.
