Four Vehicle Crash Sends Four to the Hospital

DETAILS:   At approximately 2:45 PM on October 6, 2011 the Allen County Sheriff’s Department responded to four vehicle crash at U.S. 24 just East of West County Line Road.

According to reports, a black Pontiac driven by a F/W/20 from Huntington, Indiana was West on U.S. 24 when she struck a white utility truck (M/W/53 Roanoke, Indiana) in the rear that was trying to turn East through the median drive.  That collision caused the white truck to enter the East bound lanes of U.S. 24 where it struck a black Infinity SUV driven by a F/W/35 and occupied by a F/W/9, both from Huntington, Indiana.  The black Nissan then struck a maroon Jeep (F/W/41 Converse, Indiana) that was also East bound causing the Jeep to rollover into the ditch.

The driver of the black Pontiac was not injured.  The driver of the white utility vehicle was ejected and transported to a local hospital via EMS in serious condition.  He was not wearing his seatbelt.  The driver of the black Infinity SUV and her juvenile passenger were transported to a local hospital via EMS.  The driver was in serious condition while the minor was in good condition.  The driver of the Jeep was taken to a local hospital via EMS in serious condition.

Both East and West bound lanes were initially closed.  1 West bound lane was opened after approximately 30 minutes.  However, both East bound lanes remained closed for approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes.  This crash remains under investigation by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.
