Arrests Made In Recent Armed Robberies

DETAILS:   The Allen County Sheriff’s Department responded to a recent armed robbery at the CVS Pharmacy located at 13821 State Road 1, Leo/Cedarville.

On August 18, 2010, at approximately 3:55 p.m., the suspect, described as a heavy set white male wearing a red shirt, black jeans, white rimmed sunglasses, a dark colored fishing hat and having a mole on his right cheek, walked into the CVS. The suspect lifted his shirt to display a black and silver handgun that he had tucked in his waistband and ordered the victim to give him all the Oxycontin and Opana. After receiving the pills the suspect fled the building in an unknown direction.  It was believed that the suspect was driving an older white 4 door vehicle with missing hubcaps and black trim along the bottom portion.  On August 25, 2010, at approximately 9:06 p.m., an Allen County Warrants unit stopped a car for a traffic violation and found that the driver Josiah Davis, M/W/26, had a suspended drivers license.  While inventorying the vehicle prior to having it towed officers found a large amount of Oxycontin and Opana.  While reading the police report, a detective with the Allen County Criminal Investigations Division noticed that the vehicle and license plate from the traffic stop were very close to the description given in the CVS robbery.  Detectives went to the Allen County Lock Up to interview Josiah Davis who was being held for Possession of narcotics with intent to distribute.  The detectives obtained consent to search the vehicle that Josiah was driving and sent officers from the Northeast Bank Robbery Task Force to Ashley Indiana to search the vehicle.  After arriving in Ashley officers knocked on the door of the residence that the vehicle was at and an individual matching the description of the robbery suspect answered the door.  Officers interviewed the individual (Jonathan Davis, M/W/18, Delta Ohio) and obtained a confession to the armed robbery in Leo/Cedarville and an armed robbery in Ligoneer, Indiana.  While officers and detectives were searching the residence they found several guns that had been taken in a recent burglary that occurred in New Haven, Indiana. Also found in the residence was clothing matching the description given in the armed robberies and several pharmacy pill bottles.  The agencies involved include the Northeast Bank Robbery Task Force (Allen County Sheriff’s Department, Fort Wayne Police Department, New Haven Police Department, Indiana State Police, ATF, FBI, and US Marshal Service), Ashley Police Department, and Ligoneer Police Department.  Both suspects will appear in court on Monday, August 30, 2010 and will be arraigned in Federal Court.  The investigation is ongoing.  Jonathan Davis is being held in the Allen County Lock Up on 2 counts of armed robbery and Josiah Davis is also being held on Possession with intent to distribute and Felon in Possession of a Stolen Weapon.
