                                                Burglary

On Friday, September 21st, 2007 Allen County Sheriffs Department warrants division officers were attempting to serve an arrest warrant in the 1000 block of  Elmwood Avenue. As they were approaching the residence one of the officers noticed a suspicious person leaving a nearby residence through the rear door. That person was later identified as Benson D. Burton.

Burton’s actions at the rear of the residence raised officer’s suspicions to the point where he was asked for his identification. Burton, rather than provide his identification as requested, fled from the officer. As Burton ran he was caught by another officer at the scene. Burton was taken into custody after a struggle and booked into lockup charged with burglary.

Warrants officers involved were Officer Scott Borton, Officer Mark Reed, and Officer David Hunter.

The case remains under investigation by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.
