Missing Girl Found Safe at Auntís House

Julia Kuhn, a 9-year-old girl reported missing from her home in the 8800 block of

OíDay Road
, at approximately 6:45 p.m. yesterday, was found safe at her auntís house in New Haven at about 7:12 a.m. today.Investigators with the Allen County Sheriffís Department have determined that at about 2:40 p.m. Julia hid in her motherís van.Her mother drove to work at St. Joe Hospital,
700 Broadway Street
in Fort Wayne, without realizing Julia was hiding in the back.Julia waited for her mother to go into work, then got out of the van and walked to the downtown library. After staying at the library for several hours, Julia walked to her auntís house in the 1300 block of
Werling Road
in New Haven.She apparently fell asleep on the back porch and was spotted by the aunt this morning. The aunt immediately called 911.Julia was not injured and has been reunited with her parents. The 12 hour search included help from the Indiana State Police helicopter with thermal imaging from Indianapolis, Samaritanís helicopter, personnel and equipment from the Southwest Fire District, Washington Township Fire Department, Churubusco Fire Department, St. Joe Township Fire Department, the Fort Wayne Dive Team, Huntington County with 3 K-9 dogs and several other emergency responders from surrounding areas.Approximately 100 people spent 12 hours in the search for Julia.The ďA Child Is Missing Alert ProgramĒ was activated which spurred numerous phone calls from around the area.
