K9 Program

The Allen County Sheriff’s Department is fortunate to have a top notch K9 program and one of the areas only Master Trainers. The departments K9 program has been an integral part of the department for many years.

The Allen County K9 Academy has trained K-9 teams from many different departments successfully over the years. The academy was chosen by the Indiana State Police to provide basic training to all of their K-9 teams.

In addition to training K-9 general utility teams the academy has also trained specialty K-9s such as explosives detection dogs and School Resource teams.

The department also has a bloodhound, Katie, fully trained to assist in tracking missing persons. Katie is also a certified cadaver dog and can be used in cases when the locating of human remains may be necessary.
