Captain John Zagelmeier

ZagelmeierJohn Zagelmeier started his career with the Allen County Police Department in 1991 when he became a Reserve Officer for the Department.  After almost 7 years as a Reserve Officer, John made the decision to attempt to become a full time sworn officer.

In July of 1997 John Zagelmeier was sworn on by then Sheriff, Joe Squadrito.  Upon completing the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in November of 1997 Officer Zagelmeier served as an officer at the Allen County Jail for a very short period before transferring to the Communications Division as an Officer/Dispatcher.

In November of 1999 Officer Zagelmeier was promoted to Detective/Corporal and transferred to the Criminal Investigations Division.  During his time in the Criminal Investigations Division, Cpl. Zagelmeier specialized in working Sex Crimes, Death Investigations and also became a Certified Polygraph Examiner.

In March of 2013 Cpl. Zagelmeier was promoted to Detective/Sergeant of the Criminal Investigations Division where he supervised investigations conducted by the detectives of the Criminal Investigative Division.

In December of 2014 Sgt. Zagelmeier was promoted to his current position of Captain of the Internal Affairs Division.
